Hastings Groom School

The Hastings Racecourse Groom School is an intensive 4 week program with both hands on and theoretical training. Participants will learn how to properly care for and groom thoroughbred horses here in Vancouver.

For applicants with little or no experience with horses, the program will teach the skills required for an entry level groom’s position. There will be a maximum of 8 people per group to allow for maximum hands on experience.

The program is part of Hastings Racecourses commitment to community and as such the tuition costs are completely paid for. It will run for over a 4 week period - 6 days per week, 5 hours per day for a total of 120 hours of instruction and practice.

The program will give participants the opportunity to gain skills in a safe environment and final preparation for future employment.
